The loss we faced during Hurricane Helene has been overwhelming, but we are working hard to show up for these young people and rebuild! We are deeply grateful to have found a temporary place to gather and are actively searching for a more permanent location. While it will feel strange to meet again without all of our materials and supplies, we know that it’s not the "things" that make Wildwood special. It’s the energy and the people—like you—who are the true heart of this program.
If you are able, sharing our story with people outside the mountain region can help us reach those who may want to join our rebuilding efforts without adding strain to our local community. This event has caused widespread suffering in this region, and the needs will continue to evolve. Social responsibility and community care are at the heart of Wildwood's mission, and any support will have a ripple effect as we continue to uplift our greater community however we can.
With Love and Gratitude,
The Wildwood Community
P.S. We thought our beloved (mascot of sorts) Mervin the rainbow dinosaur was hopeless lost in the muck with everything else. Somehow, in all the mess, Mervin was found! After several baths and some peaceful recovering, Mervin is ready to join us again. We thought you would want to know.
